About Us

Helping the homeless one first aid kit at a time

Our Mission

Helping Hands FirstAid’s mission is to provide basic first aid items to homeless and low income people. Many low income individuals in the Denver Metro area are in desperate need of first aid supplies. For these people, a basic first aid kit could prevent a simple cut from becoming a severe infection, requiring medical attention.

Founder of Helping Hands FirstAid

My name is Jamie Henry and I am an eighteen year old living in Littleton, CO. The story above is a true experience that happened to me while in downtown Denver. Throughout the past seven years I have volunteered with many organizations that help homeless and low income individuals and families. Through these experiences, I have become very conscious of the difficult life these people have. After seeing the injured man in my story, I knew I had to try and make a difference. Getting first aid kits to these people is my mission and I hope it becomes your mission as well.

Origin of Helping Hands FirstAid

In summer of 2015, while walking through the city of Denver, I noticed a man with scrapes up and down his arms, his legs bleeding from road rash. He looked dazed and in great pain, hands pushing on his head, trying to make the headache go away. As I looked around, I noticed that everyone walked by this man like he was invisible. I went back to my car and grabbed a first aid kit. Returning to him, I asked if he needed help and gave him the kit. He was so grateful to have some medical items to clean and bandage his wounds. I then found out that he had been hit by a car, and yet no one stopped to help him. Many homeless and low income people, like this man, cannot afford even the most basic medical supplies. In that moment, I knew I needed to find a way to help others like this man.
